WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE?

Do you want to have a more youthful appearance, with bigger looking, more defined natural lips? If you answered yes then you are a perfect candidate! This includes those busy parents or business people who don’t have much time to apply make up, active people who don’t want to worry about wearing makeup, any person who has lips that look the same color as their skin, or those who have white spots on their lips.

WHO IS NOT A GOOD CANDIDATE?

If you are currently pregnant or nursing, have a history of keloid scarring, have you used Accutane within the last year, and if you have a previous lip tattoo then unfortunately, you are not a good candidate. If you have a current Herpes/blister on your lips we are not able to do the treatment. For information on Fillers, please read below.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

A tiny pen-like machine is used to gently deposit pigment into the lips, slowly building a beautifully natural lip color. This allows us to build the color gradually so that we have full control over the boldness of the lip color. Color and boldness is based on individual preference.

WILL IT LOOK LIKE LIPSTICK?

We strive to offer services that are luxurious and natural-looking. Lip Blush is a natural lip enhancement that defines the lips and corrects any imperfections while maintaining your naturally beautiful size and shape. We carry all pigments from light pink, nude, to deep reds and burgundy. Depending on the color chosen, the lips will have either a balm look or lipstick look.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

The retention rate of Lip Blush is dependent on different factors such as the color you choose, your lifestyle, and how you care for them before and after your appointment. On average, Lip Blush fades away within 2-3 years, with most people wanting a touch up every 12-18 months, depending on how bold you want your lips to look. In order for them to last, you need to do an initial touch up 60 days after the procedure. If you do not, they will fade away within a few months. Touch up appointments are only allowed within 60 days after your initial session. If it has been past 60 days, you will be charged full price.

DOES IT HURT?

Most people describe it as a mild to zero discomfort. We use numbing cream throughout the entire procedure! Please keep in mind, it is a tattoo, so you will feel some discomfort, but it's very manageable.

HOW LONG DOES THE APPOINTMENT TAKE?

The first appointment takes 2-3 hours, and the touch up takes about 1.5-2 hours. Most of this time is spent mapping and numbing in order to create the perfect lip.

WHAT IS THE HEALING PROCESS?

Some swelling and tenderness after the procedure is normal and may last a day or so. Your lips may look like you got lip filler, however this is normal and typically tapers off within the first 24 hours. Also, your lips will appear darker and bigger for a couple of days. Lips are super easy to heal as our technique is gentle. It only takes about 4-5 days, on average, to heal and during that time they may feel tight and chapped. You must keep them hydrated. PRE-PROCEDURE CARE AND INFORMATION

• No Alcohol consumption prior to procedure – It will cause more sensitivity and possible pinpoint bleeding.

• NO ASPIRIN or Vitamin E – (no blood thinners) for 3 days prior.

• You may want to take an oral antihistamine (ie. Benadryl) one hour prior to treatment.

• Delicate skin or sensitive areas may redden or swell slightly, therefore, it is advised to not make social plans for the same day.

• OUTER HEALING TIME completes in about 7-10 days for the lips. 

• INNER HEALING TIME completes in about 4-6 weeks for the lips. 

• How easily a person bruises and swells may be affected by age, food and meds consumed, and hormonal cycles.

• If unwanted hair is normally removed in the area to be treated, any waxing should be done at least 24 hours prior to your procedure; electrolysis no less than five days. Do not resume any method of hair removal for a week after a procedure.

• If you are having the Lip Blush procedure and have EVER had a cold sore/fever blister, chicken pox or shingles, the procedure will almost always activate the virus responsible for the eruption. You may wish to ask your physician for a prescription for 400 mgs. of ZOVIRAX or ACYCLOVIR. This should be taken 2 times a day for 2 days before and 4 days after the procedure; a total of six days (6) days. (Or as prescribed by your physician). This protocol may prevent or minimize an outbreak. For those wanting an alternative approach, the amino acid L-Lysine is available at health food stores and the dosage should be increased to double the recommended and taken 4 days prior and 4 days after the procedure.

• If you are doing LIP FILLERS, we recommend to get the fillers done at least 30 days before your Lip Blush treatment. We recommend waiting at least 60 days after Lip Blush to do fillers. Keep in mind that a 30 day Lip Blush is required, so technically you cannot do fillers for 90 days after your first Lip Blush procedure, that is why we recommend it before. Fillers too soon after Lip Blush will negatively effect the pigment. 

• Permanent makeup may appear intense and thick immediately following the procedure. The excess pigment is shed off over the next couple of days. For lips you can expect them to peel on day 3!! Lips will peel for a week and it may seem like there is not much color or even no color left in your lips. It will start to show more after 3 weeks as the internal healing completes. This is normal!

NOTE:
Permanent cosmetic procedures are affected by the canvas (your skin) that they are performed on. If your skin is sun-damaged (even from tanning beds), thick and uneven in texture, or excessively dry or oily, the result cannot be expected to be perfect after the initial procedure. Scars on the lips from fever blisters cause pigment removal. Lifestyle, medications, smoking, metabolism, facial surgery, and age of skin all contribute to fading.

Touch-up is needed 30 days after your initial procedure to ensure the best result and to keep your permanent cosmetics looking the best. Your procedure maintenance, as outlined in your pre and post procedure directions, is very important.

AFTER TREATMENT CARE:

• Observe the following for 5 days: Your skin has just received a micro pigmentation process. A color pigment has been placed into your recently broken skin. There will be an epithelial crust that will form in following days. This crust has dried pigment and plasma that forms externally. The crust will fall off naturally within a few days. Picking at the crust, rubbing or using cleansers on the area will result in a loss or distortion of color pigment. Swelling is more noticeable in eyeliner and lip color procedures. For the first few days following the procedures, the area will feel like that of a sunburn. A topical balm will soothe the area. As healing progresses, color will soften.

• Apply ice if swelling occurs for the first day.

• Use Q-tips to apply topical balm to keep moist. NO NEOSPORIN OR BACITRACIN! Use Vaseline only. (minimum 2x daily)

• Use a blotting motion with cool water to cleanse. No soaps or cleansers with chemicals! (1x daily- night time is best)

• Avoid full pressure from shower and do not soak treated area in a sauna, hot tub or pool with chlorinated water.

• Do not expose treated area to sun for two weeks!

• Do not touch, scratch or pick at the treated area.

• Lips – Drink through a straw and avoid spicy and salty foods for several days.

• Lips – Take medication advised to prevent outbreaks of cold sores.

• NO MAKEUP ON AFFECTED AREAS. Colors will appear darker and more defined immediately following your procedure. It will lighten as it heals. Follow up visit is recommended in 60 days for perfection. Should you show any swelling or signs of infection after 5 days, please contact us.

• No LIP FILLERS for 60 days.

DAY BY DAY HEALING- WHAT TO EXPECT

1. Swelling, tender, heavy, thick lipstick color that may have a reddish brick color effect.

2. Slight swelling, tender, more of a red tone.

3. SCABBING! Less swelling. Thicker texture that is now starting to scab (or get thicker looking). May feel slightly warm or hot.

4. More exfoliation & scabbing. Very chapped. Do not pull or pick at scabs because if you do, you are peeling off the pigment.

5. Almost finished with chapping stage! 

6. A soft, rich color begings to appear.

7. Day 7 to 13- Lip color disappears and the "frosty" (2nd chapping) stage begins as a whitish/gray haze on the lips. The week after your procedure it may look as if the color is fading, this is normal. Don't panic. The color will return as the inner healing shows through the newly exfoliated skin.

8. Day 14 through 21- Color "blooms" from within more and more each day until day 21. 

9. DAY 31 - Healing is complete and its almost time for your touch up.

You must keep your lips hydrated for the entire healing process.

We highly recommend a touch up within 60 days to ensure the color lasts up to 3 years. Touch up is $180. Clients with very dark lips may need additional touch ups. Touch up appointments are only allowed within 60 days after your initial session. If it has been past 60 days, you will be charged full price.
